The smartphone revolutionThe era of the simple phone with a few buttons that was only able to receive and place calls is long gone and telephones are now smart enough to do incredible things. In the past ten years phone companies have been on an unstoppable path of modernizing and improving their models to offer users more and more features and useful capabilities.
Following their evolution since the 90s, mobile phones have added more features to the phone books, games, colored screens, more complex audio files and ringtone changing, as well as more storage space. Menus became more intricate, the ease of access grew and the population loved the changes that kept coming with every new major release. Every year brought improvements to telephones and the old models were forgotten.
In the last 5 years the big telephone companies came with fresh ideas and brilliant new ways of improving their gadgets even more. Mobiles were given options of connecting with one another not only via infrared and Bluetooth, but over the internet as well. Cameras were added in the 2000s and have been integrated seamlessly into many models of telephones. And with all these additional features, the devices kept on becoming smaller.
2010 found the mobile phone industry at a peak in popularity. Almost every person on the planet owns one or even two or three such devices. With the overall development of technology mobile phones have become these indispensable gadgets that everyone carry around to keep in touch over voice-calls, email, social networking and more. Pictures can be taken at greater quality, cameras are present on the front for video-calling, and many applications are available (word processors, social apps, stores, maps, internet browsers).
Smartphones come with big touch sensitive screens, in crisp bright colors and allow an incredible level of interactivity. They’re used as phones, cameras, audio and video players and are veritable replacements for the personal computer.
